Does the number of cycles and service life of lithium batteries affect each other?

For lithium batteries, there are usually two lifespans: cycle life and storage life. The more cycles or longer the storage time, the greater the loss of lithium battery life. However, the lifespan of lithium batteries is longer than that of traditional lead-acid batteries. Lithium batteries produced by regular lithium battery manufacturers generally have a cycle count of 2000-3000 times.

The reason why lithium batteries can replace various types of traditional batteries is also related to their longer service life. In the field of batteries, measuring the service life of batteries is usually not simply expressed in terms of time, but in terms of the number of charges and discharges.


According to the service life of ternary lithium batteries or lithium iron phosphate batteries, the service life of batteries is around 1200 to 2000 cycles, and the service life of lithium iron phosphate batteries is about 2500 cycles. And this number of cycles will decrease as the battery is used. The decrease in cycle times means that the service life of the lithium battery is also constantly decreasing. During use, due to the continuous decrease in cycle times of the battery, irreversible electrochemical reactions will occur inside the lithium battery, leading to a decrease in capacity.


The number of life cycles of a lithium battery pool is determined by the quality and material of the battery, and the number of cycles of a lithium battery is closely related to its service life. For each cycle completed, the capacity of the lithium battery will decrease slightly, and the service life of the lithium battery will also decrease.
