Introduction to the advantages and disadvantages of graphite negative electrodes in lithium-ion batteries

Advantages of graphite negative electrode in lithium-ion batteries:
1. Graphite is widely distributed and has abundant reserves;
2. After modification, the compacted density is higher;
3. The electrochemical function remains relatively unchanged;
4. The actual specific capacity density can be close to the theoretical specific capacity.
Disadvantages of graphite negative electrode material for lithium-ion batteries:
1. Insufficient capacity makes it difficult to meet the actual demand for power lithium-ion batteries;
2. Low purity, with more secondary echoes;
3. The layered layout has poor invariance and is prone to collapse after long-term charging and discharging cycles, resulting in a serious decrease in specific capacity and a significant reduction in energy storage life;
4. Poor rate function and inability to conduct high current charging and discharging may damage the battery;
5. The charging and discharging platform is too low.
Natural graphite and artificial graphite have always been the most widely used negative electrode materials, but artificial graphite, due to the need for high-temperature treatment during the production process, significantly increases its production cost and has a negative impact on the situation.
Compared to artificial graphite, natural graphite has many benefits. Its low cost, high crystallization level, mature purification, destruction, and grading skills, low charging and discharging voltage platform, and high theoretical specific capacity have laid a solid foundation for its application in the lithium-ion battery industry.
